I’m still new to Linux (switched from Mac). I hope someone here can help me with tips and instructions. On Pop_OS you can quickly switch the used graphics card but this didn’t change or fix anything. Some say they deactivated panel self refresh to fix. There are many people having the same problems but no clear fix.
But I never noticed that issue on Windows. Originally this laptop is being shipped with Windows, which I rarely use and just for gaming. First time when I installed thunderbird and set it up. Now I installed Manjaro (also with gnome) because I use it on my desktop pc too and always prefered.
Recently I tried to check system logs to see some hints but I couldn’t find anything related or helpful (at least to me).įor the most time I used Pop_OS because I thought it will cause less issues with the graphics card. After that the problem is gone, everything is fine again. With a keyboard shortcut I’m able to lock the screen so that I need to login again. If I was watching a video, the sound is still playing like if nothing happend. Sometimes there is a pixeled purple horizontal line.īut the system didn’t freeze. The whole screen is stuck, cursor doesn’t move. I’m using a Dell XPS 9500 (2020) laptop since May and facing an very annoying issue on linux.Īlmost randomly, but more often when watching Youtube-Videos, the display freezes and it seems like nothing is working anymore.
